Soyoon Kum

Co-director

Soyoon is an assistant professor of Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development in David L. Hirschfeld Department of Engineering at Angelo State University, San Angelo, TX. Dr. Kum received her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (2019). She did research on electrodialysis (ED)-nano-filtration (NF)/reverse osmosis (RO) membrane systems for her Ph.D. She worked as a postdoctoral scholar in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at University of California, Riverside from 2019 to 2021. Her postdoctoral research was about inland brackish RO concentrate (brine) treatment and management. Her research interest is physical and chemical water treatment methods for alternative water sources. Dr. Kum also has interests in sustainable and affordable water quality management technologies for underserved communities; she has been worked globally (the Solomon Islands, Tanzania, Vietnam, Mexico, USA, and South Korea) to provide appropriate water treatment solutions. She is a co-director for Clean Water Science Network, a 501c3, and works for water education in Latin America.
