Farith Díaz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Universidad EIA in Colombia. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad de Antioquia, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the Universidad de los Andes, and a PhD in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. His doctoral dissertation investigated the impact of reduced sulfur groups and other ligands on the removal of mercury from surface water. His professional work centers on the analysis and resolution of environmental issues, especially drinking water and wastewater treatment, water quality monitoring, and the assessment of water source pollution. Dr. Díaz is interested in developing low-cost monitoring technologies, promoting the use of citizen science tools, and involving communities in environmental projects. Furthermore, he is committed to creating educational opportunities for underprivileged youth and developing impactful educational, environmental, and social projects.
